Did you watch the Coronation yesterday? The one in London?
I not only watched it, I prepped for it!
In the weeks leading up to the coronation, I followed social media updates from Westminster Abbey, the Royal Family, British historians, and more. I learned about the 12 new commissioned musical works. I watched reels showing embroidery and horses and recipes. I was all in!
Why? Because I sensed early on that there was more than one coronation story being created. Thousands of people were a part of it: planning, composing, rehearsing, designing, sewing, even parading through midnight streets in London. They all have videos, photos, anecdotes, and memories to share. They created this day. I love that their stories will live on as well as the official ones.
I took this photo of the north door of Westminster Abbey on New Year’s Day 2017. I attended a 3PM service that day will never forget the thrill of being in the sanctuary.
